The main advantage of the regional mosaics here is finer spatial resolution, compared with recent global imagery mosaics, such as the Blue Marble Next Generation series at a spatial resolution of 500m. Our processed mosaics have the spatial resolution of 120m, subsampled from the raw data at 30m. It could be said that the processed mosaics contain 4*4 times more detailed information on land features. The following figure (for Vancouver, Canada) illustrates such a comparison.
