2. A GUI for DOS-based "listgeo.exe" and "geotifcp.exe"

The official GeoTIFF website at http://www.remotesensing.org/geotiff/geotiff.html
contains two excellent utility programs:

(1) "listgeo.exe" - program for dumping the metadata of a GeoTIFF file.
(2) "geotifcp.exe" - program for applying metadata to a TIFF file, making it a GeoTIFF file.

These two programs have been freely distributed with the popular libgeotiff library. The usage of these two programs is as follows:

(1) listgeo [-tfw] [-no_norm] [-proj4] [-t tabledir] inputfile
(2) geotifcp [options] [-e esri_worldfile] [-g metadata] input output

The metadata dumped from the "listgeo.exe" could be manually edited in any text editors, such as Windows Notepad; an input GeoTIFF file could be opened and colour enhanced by third-party software such as Adobe PhotoShop or IrfanView, but the TIFF file saved after various enhancements cannot keep the original GeoTIFF tags of the input. Given these, the "geotifcp.exe" program is often used to combine the (updated) metadata file and the (updated) TIFF file to make a new GeoTIFF file, which can be easily absorbed by the majority of GIS and remote sensing software.

Because the above two utility programs are DOS-based, some users find inconvenient when they have to make frequent move between a Windows working environment and DOS command lines. The free GUI we contributed encapsulates the above two DOS-based programs so that users can readily execute them in a typical Windows GUI. Users should note the following caveats:

(1) All files should be located in a single folder, and file names should have no space characters.

(2) The options included in the GUI are only partial functions of "listgeo.exe" and "geotifcp.exe".

(3) If new versions of the above programs and related DLLs are available from the official GeoTIFF website, old programs and DLLs included in the GUI installation package can be replaced.
